PRIVACY

Privacy information for Nerd Game News.

This page describes how Nerd Game News handles data on the public site.

Current data collection

The site does not currently include account registration or newsletter signup. Nerd Game News offers optional first-party audience measurement and Google AdSense advertising, subject to ad approval and availability. Both are optional and disabled for new visitors until they opt in. Essential hosting, security and access logs may process technical request data, including IP address, even when optional features are declined. Google Fonts receives network requests when your browser loads site fonts.

Privacy and cookie preferences

Choose whether to allow first-party audience measurement and Google advertising independently. Our essential first-party localStorage preference record keeps your choices and date on this browser until you change them or clear site data. No optional advertising script is loaded before advertising permission is granted. Previously granted traffic measurement choices are retained until you change them.

Optional features are disabled until you choose.

Audience measurement

When enabled, our first-party counter uses a randomly generated identifier in sessionStorage to count sessions, page views and approximate activity. The identifier is deleted when the browser session ends. The counter is not designed to identify you and does not deliberately store your IP address. Declining or withdrawing permission stops future counter requests and clears this identifier.

External links

Articles may link to external services such as Steam, YouTube and source publications. Those services operate under their own privacy policies when you visit them.

Advertising and cookies

If you allow advertising, the site loads Google AdSense. Google and its partners may process IP addresses and use cookies or similar identifiers for advertising delivery, measurement and, where separately permitted, personalization. These cookies may persist according to Google's own retention practices. Turning advertising off prevents the script from loading on subsequent page visits and reloads the current page to stop active ads, but cannot delete third-party cookies already stored by Google or other providers.

When advertising is enabled, Google's Funding Choices tag may detect ad-blocking software and show a dismissible request to allow ads on news pages. We have also prepared an Offerwall for frequent news readers, but it will stay inactive while advertising approval is pending. If activated later, it may offer access after viewing a rewarded ad; the terms and frequency will be shown in the message.

For visitors in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland, a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP) integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework must handle the required additional choices. Our first-party preference panel does not replace that CMP. Visitors can also manage personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. Learn how Google uses information on its partner sites policy page.

Future services

Any future third-party analytics, newsletter or additional data collection services will require a review of this policy and relevant consent controls before activation.
