DayZ Badlands, a downloadable content expansion for the DayZ base game, officially launches on Steam on October 15, 2026. The expansion is developed and published by Bohemia Interactive, the same studio responsible for the original DayZ game. Check the Steam for the original details.

The expansion introduces a vast desert-themed wasteland map measuring 267km², located west of Chernarus and bordering Takistan’s western frontier. This terrain, known as Nasdara province, features a mix of abandoned historical sites, Middle Eastern-style cities, and Soviet-era military bases, alongside modern oil infrastructure.

Players will face the arid climate of Nasdara, where survival challenges include scarce water and extreme heat. The expansion includes region-specific character cosmetics, items, and firearms, as well as unique infected variants tailored to the desert environment.

The game’s narrative allows players to shape the future of this war-ravaged land, with options to explore, form factions, or battle for dominance. The expansion requires the base DayZ game to be installed on Steam to play.

DayZ Badlands is available on Steam with a 10% discount for the first week, priced at R$ 71.99 (reduced from R$ 79.99). It also includes a bundle with DayZ Frostline, offering a 15% discount on the combined purchase.

The expansion has received mixed reviews, with 62% of 746 user reviews being positive. It is categorized under Action, Adventure, Massively Multiplayer, and Survival genres, and supports multiple languages including English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.

The most practical detail for a potential buyer is that Badlands is downloadable content and requires an existing DayZ installation on Steam. The new environment can change survival priorities because scarce water and exposure in a desert create pressures different from the series' familiar temperate forests. Large open spaces can also affect encounters with other survivors. These are implications of the map and survival systems presented by Bohemia, not evidence that any particular weapon or tactic is guaranteed to work in multiplayer.

Bohemia's October 15 announcement also connects the expansion's launch with DayZ update 1.30, which introduces motorbikes and other adjustments across the game. The developer said that update involved a fresh start for servers, making current server rules, persistence and patch notes more useful to active players than an older promotional screenshot. Store discounts and the number of player reviews change over time; the durable facts are the October 15 release, the expansion's base-game requirement and its desert setting. Check the official Steam page and developer notes before selecting a server or buying the DLC.
