Peak is due to arrive on PlayStation 5 on October 22, 2026. Aggro Crab and Landfall, working together as Team Peak, confirmed the console release in an October 15 PlayStation Blog post and outlined how crossplay will connect PS5 climbers with friends playing on other platforms. Check the PlayStation Blog for the original details.

The game places players in the role of stranded nature scouts trying to escape a mysterious island by climbing its central mountain. It can be tackled alone or cooperatively with up to three friends, with every climb shaped by environmental hazards and the need to keep the group moving.

The design places cooperation at the center of the challenge. Teammates can help one another through difficult stretches, and abandoning a companion can carry consequences for the attempt. Team Peak explains that the crossplay feature is intended to keep groups together even when the players do not own the same system.

For groups planning a PS5 session, the crossplay announcement answers the biggest practical question: an entire climbing party does not need to move to Sony's console. With a maximum group of four climbers, friends can instead coordinate across their existing platforms. The announcement establishes cross-platform play but does not spell out every account-linking or invitation step, so players should check the game's in-game options when setting up their first run.

A climb passes through four biomes, each with its own threats. The official announcement lists hazards such as tornadoes, poisonous clouds, birds and zombies. Players also manage injuries and stamina, with food scavenging among the tools available to stay in the ascent.

That survival layer changes the purpose of climbing efficiently. A route that looks short may cost too much stamina if a scout is hurt or the group runs out of supplies. Team Peak also describes the advancing fog and hunger as pressures that discourage lengthy detours. This makes scouting a possible route, sharing supplies and staying close to a struggling teammate meaningful decisions rather than just ways to reach the summit faster.

Aggro Crab and Landfall’s partnership began after developers from the two studios met in 2022. The teams subsequently spent a month together at a game jam in Seoul in February 2025, an early collaborative period that helped establish Peak. The announcement credits both studios for the finished game.

The PS5 version is set to include the content updates, biomes and other additions that arrived since the game’s initial launch. Team Peak also mentions custom runs with playful interactions between climbers. Those features accompany the new console release rather than being described as a separate paid expansion.

Custom runs give friends a way to adjust the climb's tone. The developers say groups can make the experience easier or harder and mention an option to kick fellow climbers during custom games. Those settings are useful for groups with very different experience levels, but they should not be confused with a separate story campaign or an announced competitive mode.

The confirmed PS5 launch date is October 22, 2026. Team Peak’s PlayStation Blog announcement details the platform, cooperative features and content carried over to PS5. The release expands the game's platform availability while retaining crossplay for friends who play on different systems.
